Our History

our history

Waduha Welfare Organization was founded in response to a simple but urgent question: what responsibility do we carry when we witness suffering around us? Established by Zuha Rashid at the age of 19, Waduha began as a personal commitment shaped by lived experience rather than distance. Rooted in Islamic values of mercy, dignity, and accountability, the organization grew through presence within communities listening first, acting responsibly, and building trust over time.

2019

Waduha was founded as a grassroots welfare initiative, responding directly to unmet needs observed within local communities.

2020

Early relief efforts expanded to include food assistance and emergency support for vulnerable families during periods of economic and social strain.

2022

Waduha strengthened its on-ground response during national emergencies, including flood-affected areas, formalising relief operations and accountability systems.

2023-2025

The organization evolved into a multi-program welfare model, including the establishment of Waduha Care Home, with a focus on child protection, education, and long-term care.
